Wayne County R/C Club was started in 1969 with 12 members,
today 39 years later we have 65 members. Our field is located off state
route 585 at 5231 Thomson road. We have 4 acres leased from the Galen
Moomaw Farms. At the flying field we have shelters, picnic tables,
safety fence, with visitors welcome when members present. Flying is
usually done in decent weather conditions, especially evenings and
weekends 365 days a year, from 8:00 a.m. till dark weekdays, Sundays
10:00 a.m. till dark. We fly u-control, fixed wing, gliders,
helicopters, Our motors range from electric , glow-fuel , to gasoline
power .from a few inches wing span to 8 feet + span. Our dues are $
75.00 for regular membership. You must belong to the A.M.A.
organization this give you 2 ½ million dollars of liability insurance
also a monthly A.M.A. magazine—model aviation.
We also have instructors who will teach you how to fly planes
and helicopters, and the best part the service is free. We have
meetings the first Tuesday of the month at the Wayne Co. library
meeting room at 7:00 pm, and at the flying field during fair
weather on week end early afternoon.
